The USPS needs you input to reduce costs!

I’m sure most of the regular followers have noticed the link on the right hand column.

RSS USPS OFFICE OF INSPECTOR GENERAL

But I’m do not think our readers are participating!

Recently they added the following post and opened it to public comment.

Original Post:

The Postal Service is facing a financial crisis and needs to pursue every option it can to improve its net income.  Pushing the Envelope thought it might be a good idea to ask for your thoughts.  How do you think the Postal Service can save money or raise additional revenue?

To make this a bit more interesting, the blog team will review your ideas and pick the most popular or most interesting for a poll.  We’ll post the poll on Wednesday. So brainstorm now, and be sure to come back on Wednesday to view the shortlist and to vote for your favorites.

Share your ideas in the comments below. Describe the idea, whether it involves cutting costs or generating revenue, and how much you think it could add to the Postal Service’s bottom line. Happy brainstorming!

Now I have read through a good number of the comments and it appears to me that most of the posts are from postal employees, specifically, carriers. When in my opinion it was the perfect opportunity for direct mail advertisers to have their voices herd, and help fix many of their problems!

Now I wish we had pointed this opportunity out sooner, but maybe it’s not too late!
Let’s try the same here, were the overwhelming majority of the followers, are direct mail advertisers, and feel the effects of their decisions, daily!

In my not so humble opinion part of the problem is pointed out in their very next post!

To Award or Not to Award: What’s the Postal Service to Do?

Please check it out, by clicking the above link!

Now to me, one of their biggest problems is in the fact that they are not operated at all like a business!  Hello!! Yes, business needs to reward the achievements of their best employees.  It helps drive their desire to achieve more!  If your an employ, why would you bother to work a little harder, participate a little more, if their is nothing in it for you? And they hang in their with their eyes on their retirement prize.   A pat on the back only goes so far.

Go forth and VOTE and let them know what you think!

So share your ideas by commenting below, I have a feeling your ideas will be a little different from the ones posted on their blog, but let see. Describe the idea, whether it involves cutting costs,  generating revenue, and how much you think it could add to the Postal Service’s bottom line.  Happy brainstorming!  And please read their blog and participate!

Part of the above post is my opinion and not necessarily the opinion of this blog or it’s sponsors!
