Hi Dave,
The USPS should be one of your main sources of information.
They will guide you and help you understand what you need to provide, to them, to receive the highest possible postal discount.
At question is how to get there.
What will be the most cost effective software and equipment to meet your current and future needs, and provide the post office what they need.
So,, who do you turn to to find these answers?
I believe the best answers come from technicians that work for mailing equipment and software resellers.
Especially if the reseller offers equipment and software from a variety of manufacturers and not just one.
True independent dealers are becoming harder to find, but they are out there! Try looking on
AIMED of an independent mailing equipment dealer.
The technician has unique insight on what works well and what won’t, via his daily visits to mail shops, that often have a wide variety of equipment and software.
A technician is also the one that will need to face you and support you when things go wrong!
His opinion normally will not be tainted by what offers the highest commission, or award.
So it is in his best interest to steer you in the right direction!
The Accufast PMx is a not so well known, but an amazing machine, and as a 20 year technician, one of my favorites!
It’s unique features are it’s expandability, strong vacuum transport, and software with features normally only found on floor model addressing systems. You can purchase it with 1 print bank consisting of 3 cartridges for 1.5 inches of print and expand it later by adding more print banks for up to 6 inches of print.

In most cases 2 print banks each having 1.5 inches of print is enough.
1 bank to print the delivery address and the other to print the return address, indicia, and maybe a spot color marketting message.
If you do not need all that expandability and print area, you may want to consider a P8 addressing system with vacuum transport.
It takes up less space, and includes 2 print banks each holding 4 cartridges for 2 inches on each bank for a total of 4 inches of print height. This unit can not be expanded

If you rarely need to print more than the delivery address, you should consider the Accufast P4 addressing system.
It is 1 tough little addressing system and the only one in it’s class to include a vacuum transport!
2 Print banks, each with 2 cartridges, 1 inch of print on each bank for a total of 2 inches.
Some say that you can fit a readable address and barcode in 1 inch! We have a few mailers that do it every day that you can talk to! 4 Lines of text some space and the new IMB at a 12 point font. And still use the 2nd head to print a return address and indcia or a spot color marketing message.

Software,, that one we would need to speak with you to get a better understanding of you needs. 215-774-1405 or 866-471-6764
I hope this helps!
Thank you! James Angst

Subject:Moving our bulk mail in-house and need help

We are moving our bulk mail in-house and need equipment to do mail pieces, brochures, etc. Regional database of 25k addresses, national database of 100k. We do the national mail pieces 2-3 times a year and the regional pieces about 12-15 times a year. We have a S&R dept with Endicia/Dazzle and Pitney bowes WOW mail machine DM500 I think + UPS+FedEx as well.
I was looking at the ACCUFAST pmX, but need an education before I budget equipment. I understand I can get training for my people at USPS for free!
Any Advice?
David
