If your printer uses an older print head cartridge like the HP26A then NO it is not compatible!

Here ia a short list of popular printers that will not be able to print the new Intelligent Mail barcode (formerly known as the 4-State Customer Barcode)

Rena

  • DA-600
  • DA-590
  • DA-606

Bryce

  • 3K
  • 5K
  • 7K
  • 10K
  • 12K
  • 16K
  • 20K

Pitney Bowes

  • W700
  • W650
  • W770

Why can’t it!?

Simple, the long bars are taller that the 26A print cartridge can print in 1 pass.  Therefor it would need to print the top 1/2 then come back and print the bottom 1/2.  The likelyhood of the the 2 halves matching up the way they should is not good!

OK, I’ve caught some flack over this post. So let me clarify. Yes some of the above listed printers can print the barcode. But the likely hood of them actually consistently being within postal regulations is slim to none!

Is anyone out there still using any of these printers!? I was told a few years ago that that parts I needed for my W700 were no longer available.

As a matter of fact, Yes, there are still a good number of units with the 26A print cartridge in use. But as you noticed some parts are no longer available.
