A client recently contacted us to have a 30K paper sensor overnighted to him.
Below was our response.
We currently do not have any in stock and would need to ask Secap to drop ship it, and lately they have little to nothing in stock and would most likely ship it from another facility, when available.
On another note, the only time I've ever needed to replace it, is when it was damaged by chemicals or the plastic housing was broken.
Normally we can clean the sensor with a small paint brush and air.
Please make sure the compressed air you use is "Safe to use on all Sensors and other electronic energized equipment like "
Clean Jet 100"
Be careful the sensor is on a delicate plastic housing and can easily break!
If that doesn't work then adjust the sensitivity of the sensor.
We recommend having a trained service technician do the following. If you are In PA, NJ or DE call All For Mailers Inc. at 866-430-2874 otherwise you can give Secap / PB a call at 800-523-0320
You can adjust it by going to the Service Menu by taking the printer Off Line them holding down [Menu] and the [-]
SELECT THE "TEST SYSTEM" OPTION IN THE "SERVICE MENU
4.1 Turn the Control Knob to raise the Print Head Assemblies to the highest position. The sensor path must be clear (unblocked).
4.1.1. Turn potentiometer (R57) (On the Main Board completely clockwise. If MENU displays SENSOR UNBLOCKED then go to next step. (If MENU displays SENSOR BLOCKED go to step 4.3)
4.1.2. Slowly turn R57 counterclockwise until the menu transition changes to SENSOR BLOCKED. Turn R57 back to read SENSOR UNBLOCKED, then go to next step. (If R57 is completely turned counterclockwise and the LCD displays SENSOR UNBLOCKED, turn R57 completely clockwise and go to next step).
4.1.3. Mark position on R57 as point A (with pencil).
Place a sheet of copy paper over the hole for the sensor. Turn the Control Knob to lower the Print Head Assemblies onto the copy paper.
4.2.1. If the MENU reads SENSOR BLOCKED then go to step 4.4.
4.2.2. If the MENU reads SENSOR UNBLOCKED. From marked Point A, tum the potentiometer counterclockwise until the menu transition changes to SENSOR BLOCKED.
4.2.3. Mark position on R57 as point B (with pencil).
4.2.4. If menu display remains SENSOR UNBLOCKED when the R57 is turned completely counterclockwise then mark Cleaning and Maintaining the Printer position of R57 as point B. Tum R57 to the middle of marked point A and point B then go to step 4.4.
4.3. If step 4.1 is performed and no transition is found. [LCD display stays SENSOR BLOCKED and potentiometer R57 is fully turned clockwise], then:
4.3.1. Replace Sensors or Processor Board.
4.4 Verify the following three conditions:
Lift Bracket Assembly Sensor path " Test Paper Sensor" menu
raised clear SENSOR UNBLOCKED
lowered blocked SENSOR BLOCKED
lowered clear SENSOR UNBLOCKED
'Check for proper states as shown, if incorrect then the perform steps again.
